Matej Me\u0161trovi\u0107 is without any doubt the most versatile Croatian artist. He is an exclusive artist at PARMA Recordings (USA) and in his 2018 premiere of the \u201cDanube Rhapsody\u201d for symphony orchestra and piano in Carnegie Hall\u2019s main hall (Stern Auditorium) was the first time that a Croatian composer premiered his own work in this prestigious hall. Me\u0161trovi\u0107 wrote music for Croatian pavilions at three Expos \u2013 in Shanghai (2010), Hannover (2000), and Lisbon (1998) and for this he received the Award of the City of Zagreb. This is only one of the many awards he received so far: a special award from the mayor of Karlovy Vary; Oktavijan, presented at the Croatian Film Days festival; award Baldo \u010cupi\u0107 for the best Croatian tourism film; four Global Music Awards. His CD Vivaldi 4 Seasons for 3 pianos <\/em>is on Spotify\u2019s list of top 50 classical editions. In March this year, PARMA Recordings published Me\u0161trovi\u0107\u2019s CD 3 Rhapsodies for Piano and Orchestra, <\/em>which he recorded with Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra. This is also the first CD by this Orchestra made for the US market. Me\u0161trovi\u0107 expects the recording for his new project to begin in the spring of 2020 in Abbey Road Studio with London Symphony Orchestra. He was dubbed by American critics as the \u201cCroatian John Williams\u201d.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Drummer and percussionist Borna \u0160ercar graduated from the Academy of Music in Zagreb under the mentorship of Professor Igor Le\u0161nik.<\/p>\n His rich and versatile musical career so far consists of eight years in the Big Band of the Croatian Radio and Television (HRT), of writing music for animated films, and collaboration in theatre (HNK, Mala scena). He has been hired on contract by several orchestras: the HRT Symphony Orchestra, Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Orchestra of the Croatian Armed Forces, the Croatian National Theatre orchestra, and others.<\/p>\n \u0160ercar is a permanent member of the Croatian Baroque Ensemble and he plays in several jazz bands: Matija Dedi\u0107 Trio, Spike Quartet, Dona Lee Quartet, Ivan Kapec Trio, Zagreb Jazz Portrait, Il Gruppo Delle Azioni Progressive and Ladislav Fidri Quintet.<\/p>\n For many years he has worked closely with Josipa Lisac, Arsen Dedi\u0107 and Gabi Novak, a during his long-spanning career he also had an opportunity to work with Michel Legrand, Miljenko Prohaska, Bo\u0161ko Petrovi\u0107, Tereza Kesovija, Oliver, and others.<\/p>\n Together with Ivana Bili\u0107 and Bo\u017eidar Rebi\u0107, \u0160ercar founded a percussion trio Boob–n\u2014yar and they perform their own music as well as percussion classics.<\/p>\n With Ante Gelo on guitar, \u0160ercar delivered impressive musical performances on glass bottles \u2013 flashophone<\/em> (from Croatian \u201cflasha\u201d \u2013 a bottle) \u2013across Europe and South America.<\/p>\n He won the Status <\/em>award<\/em> as the most promising young jazz musician in 1999 and then again in 2014 as the best jazz drummer.<\/p>\n In 2008, \u0160ercar was among the Croatian discography award Porin<\/em> nominees in several categories, one of which was for the best jazz composition.<\/p>\n Already in their first year of existence, \u0160ercar and Jazziana Croatica made noticeable performances in and outside the country.
